FinishedWood.Com draws colors and types from multiple brands including Duckback Products, Cabot Stains, Sherwin Williams and much more. This wide breadth of pallets means you don’t have to settle for someone else’s limited selection.
Clears & Transparents
Used on wood products, these types of stain have no or minimal color to allow the natural beauty of the natural wood to be showcased.
Life Expectancy: 1-3 years, no finish warranty
Semi-Transparents
Used on wood products, semi-transparent stains can be tinted to numerous colors. While allowing much of the wood variation to be seen, Semi-Transparent give more consistency than a clear.
Life Expectancy: 2-5 years, 5-year warranty available
Semi-Solids
Used on wood products, semi-solid fall between a semi-transparent and solid stain. With more pigment, this stain creates more color consistency, allowing only the most extreme wood color variations to be visible.
Life Expectancy: 2-5 years, no finish warranty
Solid Stain
Used on wood, solid stains are completely opaque allowing only grain texture to be visible. Solid stains are available in an unlimited color selection.
Life Expectancy: 5-10 years, 5-year warranty available
Latex Paint
Used on wood or non-wood, latex paint offers the maximum life and consistency of any exterior coating when applied over a quality oil or latex primer. Like the solid stains, the color selection is unlimited.
Life Expectancy: 10 years plus, 15-25 year warranties available
Woodperfect Stain for Cement
For cement or composite material, Woodperfect Stain is a coating that gives a non-wood product a semi-transparent look. This water-based finish is a multiple coat process and is available in several colors.
Life Expectancy: 10 years plus, 12-year warranty available.
ABOUT LIFE EXPECTANCY
The purpose to FinishedWood.Com’s life expectancy timelines is to provide a realistic expectation of how long a finish might last. Timelines are greatly determined by varying degrees of exposure and are not warranties.
OIL VS. WATER
Most stains are available in both oil and water based products. FinishedWood.Com can do either type (only water based products on cement). The Western Red Cedar Lumber Association recommends oil based stains and primers, which is the default product of choice for FinishedWood.Com.
If water based stain is desired, two coats is typically required versus one coat of the same product in oil. This is because oil stains penetrate much better than its water based counterparts.
CUSTOM COLOR MATCHING
FinishedWood.Com specializes in custom colors. Choose from any paint brand color pallet and FinishedWood.Com can match it solid color stain or paint. Have a tweeked color? Provide a sample and FinishedWood.Com can do that too.
While transparent and semi-transparent colors are more difficult to custom match, FinishedWood.Com has access to several of the most popular brands including Cabot, Sherwin Williams, Duckback, Olympic & Sikkens. This means you have the most variety you will find anywhere!

WARRANTY INFORMATION
Manufacturer warranties are available for many finishes offered by FinishedWood.Com. Copies of warranties will be included with your order and are available through the link below. READ WARRANTIES CAREFULLY. Warranties require registration and may require periodic maintenance.
